Dear Coalition Friends and Colleagues:

November 20 marks the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. 

We commemorate this historic event by launching the Coalition blog and website http://coalitiontostopchilddetention.blogspot.com/ and http://stopchilddetention.com to stress that the significant gap between the provisions of the Covenant and the life and struggles of children prisoners poses an enormous challenge on our part. 

We hope that the resources available in this blog would be useful in our grassroots and global efforts to stop human rights violations committed against children accused of violating the law.
