In December 2002, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo honored overseas Filipinos and other nationals who, by their achievements or humanitarian efforts, have given form and substance to Filipino excellence and the time-honored values of pakikipag-kapwa, pagtutulungan, and pagkakaisa.
The Banaag Award is given to Filipino and foreign individuals or associations
for advancing the cause of Filipino communities overseas or for supporting
specific sectors or communities in the Philippines.
The Centre for Philippine Concerns Australia (CPCA) is the proud recipient of the
Presidential Banaag award for 2002.
A biennial event, the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas have so far been conferred to 156 awardees since its establishment in December 1991.
