Meditation at Lake Mungo

dried lakes
dried eyes of the earth
60 000 years,
a blink of the eye.
layers of stories
scrawled in the sand -
calcified plants,
remnants of camp and
burial sites, bones
of our past,
mute witnesses of life
and death like
twins dancing
in the cold breeze -
an ever evolving cycle
that freezes
the mind.
